Water resources are scarce in the Mediterranean area, and yet the current
management regimes are at times neither efficient nor sustainable. The need
to improve on the current system is paramount, if the objective of sustainable
development subscribed by partner countries and the EU, and stability in the
region, are to be achieved and maintained.
