Jürgen Scheffran has a physics background and currently is a senior research scientist in the Program in Arms Control, Disarmament and International Security (ACDIS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There he has adjunct faculty positions in the Departments of Atmospheric Sciences and Political Science. He previously worked at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany . In 2003 he was temporary Visiting Professor at the University of Paris (Pantheon/Sorbonne). His research and teaching interests include: energy, environment and climate change; complex systems analysis, dynamic game theory and agent-based modelling; technology assessment, arms control and international security.
