His fields of research includes: Wave Hydrodynamics; Fluid-Structure interactions; Dynamic Poro-Elasticity; ElasticWaves; Seabed Mechanics; Earthquake Engineering; Mud flows, Land Subsidence; Soil vapor extraction and air sparging.
Aside from journal publications, he is the author of two books (i) Applied Dynamics of Ocean Surface Waves, Wiley , 1983, World Scientific, 1989,. and (ii) Methods of Analysis in Engineering , Cambridge University Press., 1993,and a chapter on "Wave-Seabed Interactions" in The Sea - Ocean Engineering Science , Wiley Interscience, 1990.

His past and current professional services include: Member of Editorial Board of (i) International Journal of Coastal Engineering, (ii) International Journal of Applied Ocean Research., (iii) Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics, (iii) Ocean Space Utilization '85, Vol.1, Nihon University, Japan, (iv) Journal of Hydrodynamics, Beijing, China.; (vi) Wave Motion and (vii) Journal of Fluid Mechanics.

His awards include (i) Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Miami (1987), (ii) Moffatt-Nichols Harbors & Coastal Engineering Award, ASCE (1992), and (iii) International Coastal Engineering Award, ASCE (1993.) .

He has served as a Member of : (i) Coastal Engineering Research Board, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and (ii) Collegio di Esperti di Livello Internazionale, Ministry of Public Works, Italy for reviewing the Environmental Impact Statement by ConsorzioVenezia Nuova
