Biographical Statements of Active Participants
Dr. Ottmar EDENHOFER
Dr. Ottmar Edenhofer studied Economics and Philosophy at the University of Munich and holds a university degree in both fields. During his studies he founded his own enterprise and led between 1991 and 1993 a humanitarian aid organisation in Bosnia. He worked as a research assistant at the Technical University Darmstadt and wrote his Ph.D. in Economics in 1999. He is currently the Deputy Head of the Department of Global Change and Social Systems at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). Since 2003 he also leads, together with his colleague Hermann Held, the project “Ocean Sequestration and the Transformation of the Global Energy System” funded by the Volkswagenstiftung. His research interests are Climate and Energy Policy, Social-Cost-Benefit-Analysis, Growth Theory, Environmental Economics, Welfare Theory and General Intertemporal Equilibrium Theory.
