Stefan Ambec is INRA Research Professor at Toulouse School of Economics, member of the LERNA and IDEI research centers. He is also visiting professor at the University of Gothenburg and co-editor of Environmental and Resource Econimics. After having completed a PhD in economics from the University of Montreal, he held post-doc positions at the University Laval in Quebec City and the University of Salerno, before moving back to France in Grenoble and then Toulouse. He has been director of the Master in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics in Toulouse. His work focuses mainly on the foundations and impacts of environmental policies: about their efficiency, fairness properties, their effect on firms’ strategies, on the welfare of citizens and their behavior. Stefan has investigated those questions on many topics: water use, air pollution and climate change, common-pool resource extraction, electricity production, pest resistance and localization of polluting facilities. His research has been published in top journals in economics including environmental and natural resource economics, economic theory, development economics and management strategy.
