Experts joining the faculty group
Peter Carter is Associate Director and Head of the recently strengthened now Sustainable Development Unit (SDU) and Chair of the Environmental Assessment Group (ENVAG) of the European Investment Bank. Prior to assuming his environmental responsibilities in the Bank in the early 1990s, he worked successively as a development economist in Africa, the Caribbean and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Before joining the EIB in 1985, Peter worked for the UK Government Economic Service in the then Department of the Environment and the Overseas Development Administration. He has taught at the Universities of Liberia and London and spent five years living and working in West and Southern Africa . He was educated at the Universities of Bristol, London and Oxford , where he was EIB Visiting Fellow, associated with the Environmental Change Institute, in 1998-9.
