Steve Polasky holds the Fesler-Lampert Professor of Ecological/Environmental Economics at the University of Minnesota. He received a PhD in Economics from the University in Michigan. He previously held positions at Oregon State University and Boston College. He was the senior staff economist for environment and resources for the President's Council of Economic Advisors 1998-1999. He has served as associate editor for the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management. He is currently serving on the EPA's Science Advisory Board Environmental Economics Advisory Committee and Valuing the Protection of Ecological Systems and Services Committee. He is also serving on the Science Council of The Nature Conservancy. His research interests include biodiversity conservation, endangered species policy, integrating ecological and economic analysis, ecosystem services, renewable energy, environmental regulation, and common property resources.
This activity is part of the ESS RESECON project, that has received funding from the European Community's Sixth Framework Programme, Marie Curie Actions - Human Resources and Mobility.
