Faculty - 2010 Summer School
Scott Barrett is the Lenfest-Earth Institute Professor of Natural Resource Economics at Columbia University in New York City, with a joint appointment in the School of International and Public Affairs and the Earth Institute. He is also a fellow of the Beijer Institute (Stockholm), CESifo (Munich), and the Institute of World Economics (Kiel). He was previously Professor of Environmental Economics & International Political Economy at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC.; Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Yale University; and Associate Professor of Economics at the London Business School. His research focuses on institutional remedies to transnational environmental challenges. He is the author of Environment and Statecraft: The Strategy of Environmental Treaty-Making, and Why Cooperate? The Incentive to Supply Global Public Goods, both published by Oxford University Press. He received a Ph.D. in Economics from the London School of Economics. He was awarded the Resources for the Future Dissertation Prize in 1990, and the Erik Kempe Award in 1996.
